No, I don't. One of BCOL's biggest commodities, lumber, is a high value commodity. The railroad also tapped into coal deposits at Tumbler Ridge. When the railroad was called the Pacific Great Eastern, some people said that PGE stood for "Province's Greatest Expense". The line may not have always covered all of its expenses, but it opened up the northern part of the province to development.
There still must be potential to make some money off the operation, otherwise, Canadian National and BNSF would not have expressed interest in operating the line.
