The 800 pound gorilla in the corner of the room that the maker of this video, and a lot of other people, declines to address is that public transportation is becoming nothing more than one more homeless encampment and place of refuge for the mentally ill. Security guards don't have the legal authority to remove miscreants, and trains are frequently severely delayed waiting for the "real" police to respond. The NM Rail Runner was profiled in this video and that line has its share of problems. I know of a guy who rode the line a few years ago and he mentioned having to endure a mentally whacked out guy on the train who was exposing and playing with himself. What person in his right mind would even take the risk of having to deal with a situation like this, accompanied by his family members, when another option would be to simply make the journey by private automobile?
