"Humboldt Bay harbor commissioners are recommending a series of drastic measures to help right a ship that might otherwise be sunk in just a few years.
At its Thursday night meeting, the Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District board proposed cutting salaries by $250,000 -- expectedly by cutting one bar pilot position and reducing pay for the other -- and tens of thousands in other costs. Commissioners also suggested slashing the $100,000 budgeted for the district's maritime director, Wilson Lacy."
