Yeah, it could be done. The train would join the UP mainline at Hinkle. But it will never happen because it doesn't have anything to do with the Northeast Corridor and Amtrak doesn't want to have anything to do with new long hauls unless they can get the states to pony up money. Trying to get a string of states to cooperate on something like that is like trying to herd cats.
