SMART should have never taken over NWP freight operations. They pay much higher salaries than NWP did and contract out most track and bridge repair work . They will continue to lose money. The tax payers are basically subsidizing part of the shipping costs to two feed mills and a brewery. Most of the voters in Sonoma Valley will get wind that loaded tankers may return to Schellville and that's far more infuriating than the prospect that SMART looses money hauling freight. They also lose money hauling passengers. That's how cool it is.
