Unless you're speaking through a time warp from the last decade, you might not be noticing that people are NOT going back to offices in cities. Especially SF for some reason. Commuting had become a necessity, then there was Covid and the recovery in SF has been extremely slow. So now commuting is more of a luxury, at least into SF.

With better bus connections and more frequent service, SMART might be able to substitute for more of GGT's "basic" service, for commuting within the N. Bay 101 corridor. While changes might be needed for that, direct one-seat service into SF isn't one of them. Buses can maintain what's needed of that, and a better connection to the ferry would help too (shorter walk, airport-style beltways, etc.).
