The author stated that the results surprised him. Lots of people in the comments said that they found the situation to be just as he found.

Remember, this is for the MEDIAN household. Half earn more and half earn less. As both the author and the commenters pointed out, if you are on the bottom this doesn't apply as housing is so expensive. But if you are making the median income or better, these are great places to live and accumulate wealth.
