Train count on the UP Donner line and Denver Mainline

Sad state of affairs on the old Donner mainlines extending into Denver on the old DRG&W. My wife and I took AMTRAK to Glenwood Springs yesterday and I only saw one short UP intermodal train near Truckee. Roseville Yard- Dead. Sparks Yard, BNSF switching, UP- dead. Only 1 BNSF tank train at Glenwood Springs for the over 24-hour journey. Is this the sad state of affairs that UP has left us with? Many sidings had boxcars, coal hoppers, intermodal cars, and CenterBeam flats filled up. Can't believe what SP and the DRG&W used run on these lines from just 30 years ago. What is wrong with America's railroads?
