Late summer I wrote about the same thing on AP.Just 7 trains in 24 hours on UP's Shasta route in Dunsmuir.Mergers have redirected traffic and PSR squeezes more profit out of fewer longer trains. With huge maintenance costs and so few trains I suspect in the years ahead UP will divest itself of lines with little traffic. America's future might include a bike path system in that is the envy of the world.
