And now into nitpicker mode...

"CAHSR's max grade is through Tehachapi Pass and it is an 8.5 mile grade of 2.80%. Such a sustained grade limits their operating speed through this section to 180 mph due to downhill train set braking limitations on grades over 17,100 ft in length. Shorter grades have fewer restrictions due to being able to stop quickly at the bottom. CAHSR plans on running at 220 mph over lesser and shorter grades."

"Brightline is in active discussion with Alstom and Siemens Mobility to procure rolling stock for the[ir] service and for potential future routes.

If selected as the preferred provider, the service would utilize Siemens Velaro Novo rolling stock. Brightline would be the first customer of the Siemens Velaro Novo platform, which is currently being tested in Germany using the ICE-S train. Siemens has released promotional materials for the American Pioneer 220, the U.S. version of the Siemens Velaro platform, specifically mentioning the Los Angeles to Las Vegas route of Brightline West.

Vehicles will require a high power-to-weight ratio to climb the steep grades of up to 4.5% on the planned route: the Velaro series was designed for the German high speed rail system which has grades up to 4% on the Cologne–Frankfurt high-speed rail line. This is already a better "climbing" performance than specified by the European Union's Technical Specifications for Interoperability, which mandate a maximum grade of 3.5%."

With a nod to Wikipedia.
