Amtrak has turned out to be a completely unreliable transportation option anymore. Used to be you could plan on arriving the day before an important event you had going on, and feel comfortable about making it there. Now, no matter what time of year and for whatever reasons they make up, your train may be cancelled at the drop of a hat. At least if an airline cancels your flight, you usually have numerous other options to get there. With Amtrak, you might not have a train for several days. No one in their right mind can tolerate that, but Amtrak management just doesn't seem to care. If it snows in Hawaii, might as well cancel the Builder for a week.
