Lucky timing in the middle of the night, at least in terms of the number of folks missing and likely dead, so that is some small miracle... It could have been much worse during the morning rush hour....
With this bridge blocking sea traffic for potentially many weeks, what impacts will this have on rail traffic in and out of the port of Baltimore?
Despite what some of the folks have burbled about on TV, Baltimore is, in reality, a fairly "small" size/volume container port (at least by our global scale POLA/POLB west coast scale of operations). But Baltimore is a fairly good sized east coast "RORO" auto traffic terminal, and all these appear to be blocked by the bridge collapse.
Never a dull momement in the transportation/infrastructure business....
