You hit it right on the head Jesse. Every Republican president has tried to kill Amtrak. If the most popular Republican president in recent history Reagan couldn't kill it, you would have thought that they would have learned. But no, they all just kept trying to do the same thing, totally ignoring the wishes of the vast majority of people who want passenger trains. Just look at what the governments in Europe pour into their passenger rail systems and no wonder Amtrak struggles. Our passenger rail system is a joke compared to Europe. Our Republican friends think that the automobile is still the answer to all our future transportation needs. Wake up and move into the 21st century. Thank God we finally have a new administration who sees the value of rail passenger service.
