Yup, a dozen cars out of L.A., which would swell to 20 cars or more after having the cars from the COSF and COP added at Ogden and Green River. It wasn't lack of patronage that did in trains like the City streamliners, it was the size of the crew. One UP ad from 1959 referred to the 35 man crew: enginemen, conductor, brakeman, dining car steward and waiters, chefs, bartenders, Pullman porters and Pullman conductor.
