My earliest memory of a PTC trolley was in 1958 when I was just six years old, seeing a PCC on the old #6 Line when it still crossed into Montgomery County from Philadelphia on its way to Willow Grove Park. North of the city line, the #6 ran through the communities of Wyncote, Glenside, Ardsley and Roslyn before terminating in Willow Grove.
As I recall, this end of the line was closed later that year. It's still possible to follow segments of the old ROW through these communities, because it was very much side-of-the-road. The outer end of the #6 Line remained at the transit center at Ogontz Avenue and 72nd Avenue in NE Philadelphia until the 1980s, when the rest of the line was shut down.
