Well said, and I little room to argue. I think we both see that the true problem was what seems to be poor decision by most of the parties involved leading to what was potentially a horrible situation.

I get a little wound up when anyone immediately assumes that a train crew would have prevented the situation. (I still hold conductor seniority btw). Every craft makes mistakes, we just hope to minimize them and their outcomes.
