Photographed the WV 2502 running into Petaluma today to retrieve the 11 ballast hoppers in the siding there in town. A ballast pile has been accumulating in Schellville and they need these cars to finish the track work on the south end of the south end. The FRA bad ordered all 11 cars for previous safety defects that the contractor was not aware of. They will repair the cars and run next week. I was amazed at the amount of attention "normal" people in town were giving this train. I talked to a variety of people who stopped by to check on the commotion and all were supportive and enthusiastic about the railroad's rebirth. It was strange to see rail operations after all this time. Things look very promising.
