Hi Tom--
"Humorless and cranky" refers to the guys up here:) (Who I have yet to meet in person, thankfully). I was treated to a run-of-the-place in 2004 when doing a major surveying project. "Security" was clued in that we were OK--and they did seem to be pretty decent. (They never stopped to chat). There were several people noted taking shot cuts accross many live tracks, so they did have their work cut out for them. (I wouldn't want their job).
