This is pretty much clear off the railroad topic but the thing years ago for prerunning off road
races was that the out of state guys used to fly in, rent a VW bug from Hertz and go out and pre
run the course. We saw it several times on both the Mint and the Parker 400 courses, both of which
were a @#$%& for 100 or so miles per lap. The Parker course ran right over the abandoned ROW of
the Arizona Central (??) out of Bouse which still had ties in place going down one of the washes.
Now railfans would never stoop to such things.
