I would be interested in attending, depending
on where in Oakland it ends up being. A
transit accessible location would be greatly
preferred.

Had you considered the "Crucible" for a location?
They are somewhat artsy, but they seem to like
attention getting events involving big iron and steel
items. Just a thought.
