I recommend City Hall Plaza.

Fifty years ago(!), I was working at 12th and Broadway, and one noontime heard what I describe as sounding like a convention of locomotive whistles. Tracking it down, it turned out to be a guy with a steam calliope on a flatbed trailer parked along San Pablo Ave across from the plaza. A sound like that, echoing along blocks of tall buildings? Priceless.
