Bruce: I just got off the phone with someone who is a position to know and he informs me that ALL of the log flats will be scrapped. I thought the count was 350-400, but I guess it is closer to 470!! I would hope that some of the historic societies and museums in the area would try to secure one of these as they are historic, original Milwaukee Road friction bearing log flats, most dating from 1947-1948. I also heard that all of the old CMStP&P trucks,wheels, knuckles and ect. that were in the yard have already been scrapped!! They have crews working twelve hours a day to scrap them. Really sad news. But they have not put out the order to scrap the branch line tie and rail yet as far as i know.
