Of course you can't blame the freight RR's for trying to screw Amtrak for every nickel they can get, for track & signal improvements that mostly benefit 10 - 20 freight trains more than 2 passenger trains a day. BNSF has taken the Santa Fe' s example in the LOSSAN Corridor to a higher level here in the PNW with improvements to the Cascade corridor that are a questionable gain for Sounder & Amtrak Cascades. BNSF held Sound Transit hostage for 2 years over improvements between Seattle & Everett. Oh well, at least they still ' like ' Amtrak, as opposed to Ewe - Pee...
