Class 1 steam, final runs

Some other discussion recently surfaced concerning the W.P. and also the first US Class 1 to discontinue the use of steam.
I have two questions...
It has always been my understanding that the last use of W.P. steam on freight occurred in June of 1953 between Oroville & Stockton with 2-8-2 #329. I have just now heard that it lasted a few months longer. If so, I'd sure like more details thanks.
It was also mentioned that perhaps the W.P. was the first Class 1 to dieselize. What about
the SL-SF, the Frisco? Was this road in the same category? I believe that they dieselized even earlier, like around '50 or '51 with a USRA light Mikado making the final revenue run.
Any help and/or clarification appreciated, thanks.
