That's right. Tex-Mex was a really early one. Got a fleet of Whitcombs about 1938, IIRC.

I find it interesting that we use "dieselize" pretty much as a synonym for "no more steam". I made the comment in a post on TO that, in one sense, the WP system did not completely dieselize until 1965, when the Sacramento Northern dropped its wire in Marysville-Yuba City.
