The Thompson Railroad Photo Collection
Stephen Thompson (me) Photos circa 1965-1971, throughout Western Washington, Vancouver Island, and parts of Oregon. I've added to the collection with vintage real photo postcards and cabinet photos purchased here and there. Also, back in the mid 60's, I rode the train to Portland, bus to Troutdale, and bought a collection of negatives that were advertised in Railroad Magazine.
Frank Thompson, my father, ex NP Conductor and serious photographer. Photos circa 1939-1971. Nearly all in the Seattle to Portland area, and branch lines in Western Washington.
Tom Miller, ex NP Engineer and serious photographer who left me his collection of RR negatives and color slides. Photos circa 1940-1971. Again, mostly in the western part of Washington.
Jack Anderson, ex Steam Locomotive Mechanic and another serious photographer. Jack and I traveled together throughout the Pacific Northwest photographing railroad subjects in the late 1960's through the 70's. Jack gave me his collection many years ago for safe keeping. He passed away a few years back at 47, a real loss to the steam community.
Several other railroaders left dad and I assorted images, knowing we would appreciate and care for them. Photos circa 1900-1970
Original scans have been carefully restored in Photoshop. Dust, scratches and and mars have been removed with care to insure details have not been changed or obscured, resulting in far higher quality prints than some of the cheap copies others have made from some of my images.
I have some more of my images over at my Imagekind site. They are for sale, but you can certainly view them!
