Hi Brian--
There were TWO separate rapid transit systems in SEATTLE. One, using outside third rail at 600 volts,DC , operated from the Interurban Building in downtown Seattle to "A"-Street in Tacoma.. There was a branch line into RENTON and a branch line that ran into PUYALLUP...
They ran up to five and six car trains at speeds up to 50 mph. The line thru KENT and the White River Valley was double track.. It was originally owned and operated by the conglomerate from back East, "Stone & Webster" ... It was removed and torn out about 1930..
Stupid, huh??? Duh !!

The second system ran from downtown Seattle at what is currently the Greyhound Bus Station at 9th & Stewart Streets, to EVERETT and way points... Another great system with quite a bit of private right-of-way, much of which is still used as a TRAIL. It came out about the same time as the line to Tacoma... Hope this info helps somewhat !!
