Reader is correct about the Oregon Live URL. My bad...

I did some more research at J.M. Laboda's passenger car photo index site in Trainweb and found that the two Alaska RR cars heading south to Oregon are #702 (RDC-3) and the one shown in the Oregon Live photo, RDC-2 #711.

The 702 was built as New York, New Haven & Hartford #129. It became Penn Central #96 and was later acquired by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) as #9170 for use on the agency's former Reading Co. non-electrified routes.

The 711 was built as the New Haven's #122. It became Penn Central #121 and was acquired by Amtrak as #36.

TriMet is paying $150,000 ($75,000 each) for the two cars.
