The last time the 844 was scheduled to operate on this section of track, IIRC, was for a 4449 and 8444 doubleheader to Expo 86. At that time the BN wouldn't allow anyones steam to travel on its own wheels over its tracks.

The thing with mainline steam trips is that it usually only takes one "no" and you no longer have a trip.
