Thanks for the info, David. I don't remember where I got that high figure, but it was obviously wrong. I do recall that the intermodals where running one behind the other and that I didn't have to wait long for the next train to pass.

If I were to take the Metrolink up to LAUS, what is the railfan atmosphere there? Could I expect to get hassled by the Amtrak police, or could I photograph and watch in relative peace?
