EVERETT, WA. TRAIN BEERS!
Just a reminder that if you’re railfanning around Everett, WA (Delta & Bayside Yards, Puget Sound shoreline, Stevens Pass,.Seattle, etc.), you might like to drop by the historic ANCHOR PUB at 1001 Hewitt Avenue (down by the waterfront) for refreshments, sandwiches, soups & salads and snacks. THE ANCHOR has a window looking directly out on the BNSF (former GN) high line as it rolls east off the Hewitt Avenue bridge and curves east into the Everett Tunnel. Call out any train as it rolls by and you’re good for a one dollar Pabst TRAIN BEER!...a tradition dating back to long before anyone around here can remember. Very cool views of Navy ships (Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, Perry-class frigates, etc.) from the street that can be incorporated in your photos, and the pub is just down the street from the old GN tunnel portal that goes beneath Everett, the top of which can be incorporated in shots as well with Navy ships in the background, etc. all from public property. Great tap micro brews, American lagers, and juke box music…regular weekend events (bands, history talks, etc)….you can even call owners Holly and Jeff to set aside the upstairs lounge and stage area for your party’s railroad slide shows or whatever (425-252-2288). Free WiFi too…comfy place to hang out and watch trains while enjoying some suds, liquors or other non-leaded beverages (soda, coffee, tea, etc.). Mrs. Squatch and I drop by regularly, so thought you all might like hearing of a fun place we like that’s friendly to train fans.
