And even farther back in time (pre early 1930's), the Milwaukee had it's own rails between Everett and Monroe, parts of HWY 2, in the Monroe area, are the old right of way, and the old bridge across the Snohomish River, near Lowell, I've found traces of.. and for a time, there were three railroads between the Everett and the the city of Snohomish, the Milwaukee, the GN and the NP all had their own lines. Milwaukee came to Everett for the port, but also for access to their isolated lines farther north on and near the Canadian border. But I've yet to find hard data on which road they used trackage rights on, the GN or NP to the Bellingham area.
