The problem with the additional substation at the Western Railway Museum has been with the California PUC. The PUC specifies that 3-phase power shall be deliverd to the customer in a form that is incompatible with the existing Ohio Brass substation equipment. The PUC has not been willing to grant a waiver of this rule so a transformer has been purchased to convert the power.
Until recently WRM has not had the special pulleys used to install heavy feeder cable on line poles. Recently some were found on the government surplus market and purchased. They will allow installing feeder cable in the future.
At a volunteer organization, such as the Western Railway Museum, there is always more work that needs to be done than volunteer labor available. Previous postings have been correct that new Carbarn #3 has been a priority for available labor.
If you would like to help the cause, come join the Association and volunteer. Prepare to get your hands dirty. Of course it's much easier to criticize with a computer keyboard than actually doing physical labor.
