Same thing, sort of, at City of Industry back in '71 when I was working the Anaheim Hauler. C of I was the home of the C-415s, but most crews preferred the SW1500s ("most" being the operative word here). The Anaheim Hauler was the first job on duty in the morning (at 5:05 AM, seven days a week, and you'd seldom make it back to C of I within the Hours of Service - can't believe I used to love that!), and the first order of business was to switch out a two-unit consist of SW1500s. But I actually preferred the C-415s, even though they were junk. I thought they were neat and fun to run, same as I thought about the U25Bs. Used to do the same thing at the Links - put the SW1500 away and dig out a Baldwin.
