Hi Steve-- Nice MAP.. For some reason it is not showing the connection to Alameda from downtown Oakland for the streetcars known as the "SP Dinkeys" ..Used to cross the Estuary on a bridge.
Concrete building (1911-1941)_ West Oakland Substation
Another substation was at Thousand Oaks on Solano Avenue in Albany..
Another substation was at Fruitvale... All three for SP electric lines..
The big Fruitvale Powerhouse (not demolished until 1949) supplied 13,000 volts to all three.
Fruitvale SUB was located inside the bigger Powerhouse building...
The West Oakland Substation (mid-1941 to 1990's) was used as headquarters for SP's
"Electrical Dept" //Maint of Way, under Supervisors Byron Alvers and George Westphal.
George Stewart was Division Engineer...
