"The "lattice poles" in photo (Erector set piece) were erected by OA&B Line Crews on at least ONE side of the RR row to "assist" in supporting the catenary."

No catenary to support on the tracks alongside these lattice poles. (Ditto for the lattice poles that still exist between the Nimitz Freeway and the SP main at East Oakland yard.) Ford's book says the lattice poles carried the high-voltage transmission lines from the Fernside powerhouse to the substations.
