The Lucky Baldwin agreement with the LA-SGV, California Southern, AT&SF was real, and for the Santa Anita Depot, the relica/restoration now at the Arboretum. This station and siding was located where the line of very old palm trees are at old ranch road and Colorado, on the south side of the present 210.
It is said, that once when a Santa Fe clerk refused him a direct ticket to Santa Anita on, I believe, the CA Limited, he promptly told the clerk to take a telegram to his foreman at the ranch to commence with the dismantling of the track through his property.......
Meeting the horse express trains and watching them unload the thorobreds, at the Santa Anita Depot horse spur was a pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon in old 60's Arcadia, too.
When the property was condemned for the Freeway and relocation of the 2nd District Main to the 210 Freeway median, all titles and covennats would have been vacated to give the state free and clear title, including all other property rights.
