My husband grew up in the Sunol St area and Schurra's was a favorite place for the whole family. Rocky Road was the favorite and his mother even managed to figure out how to make a pretty good version of it. When his brother died 10 years ago, we managed to put a little gold bag of rocky road into the casket.
One of Shurra's most famous products is its hollow chocolate Easter bunnies. People line up outside the store to get them!! And their truffles are fabulous!! When we were still living in San Jose they were a standard dessert at our dinner parties.
