From photos and other sources, I believe in later years that morning train's consist was 7 harrimans; the evening train's consist was 6 galleries. Is that what you recall seeing? That was the 5:17pm non-stop to Menlo Park.

As late as the 1980s, there were still rails imbedded in one of the road crossing over the old spur into downtown Los Gatos, near where the Los Gatos Brewing Company is now. That old right-of-way is now that long parking area through downtown Los Gatos. You could also clearly see about 200 yards of right of way between the end of the Foothill Expressway (what was built over the abandoned part of the branch through Los Altos), and where the old line joined up with where the Permanente Branch now curves up to the Permanente Mine. Apartments were built adjacent to that, and of course Highway 280 was built over where the tracks extended from what is now the Foothill Expressway to the existing Permanente Line. It's harder to see if that remnant still exists since the noise walls were built along 280 there. Amazingly, the old Los Altos train station still exists next to the Foothill Expressway.
