I also like the desert, even though I live in Illinois. My son lived in Barstow for 5-1/2 years and I really enjoyed that. I was at Ridgecrest last Thanksgiving and got shots of the end of the UP branch at Searles where they interchange with the Trona. They had a weed truck (actually 2)spraying weeds, which seemed strange in the desert. I also got some nice pictures at Kelso of the restored depot and very nice lunch counter.
