It is such a shame that David Curlee plans to stop producing Altamont Press Timetables. It will be a great loss to the supporters of Altamont Press. One of the underlying reasons is that David has not been getting much help in terms of accurate information and updates to the Altamont Press Timetables. Right now David needs help particularly in terms of information about Utah and Colorado shortlines. So if YOU can help please contact David.
A number of people who could share this information have chosen not to do so, for unknown, possibly selfish reasons. Just the verification of railroad radio frequencies and their exact uses would be of help in terms of various shortlines. Granted some information regarding the railroads is considered proprietary and/or confidential. However, publishing a timetable, listing station names, method of operation, (TWC,DTC,CTC,ABS etc), length of sidings, speed limits, and radio frequencies utilized, will not encourage possible sabotage in the post 911 world, despite what some over-reacting people might think. Railroad employees can be brought up on charges by their employers for divulging confidential information, and Altamont Press has respected that, and understands that employees may be reluctant to talk. However, where would the railroad community be if the contents of publications such as motive power annuals was considered too confidential to publish? So if you can help with the Altamont Press Timetables, please do so, and contact David.
