One of the by-products of chasing trains is it often takes you to places you might never otherwise visit. Hard to pick a most "exotic" spot, but several candidates come to mind. In the 1970's I rode the passenger train on the northern Transadino from Salta to the Chilean border and return, two nights at over 14,000 feet. More recently I spent several winter nights along a ng. forestry line in northern Machuria, where it was so cold the beds were mansonry platforms built on top of a slow burning fireplace for warmth (worked like a charm). And one trip I would recommend to almost anyone was a trip to and from Churchill on VIA. Then there was the Hotel Ferrocarril in Zacapa....Tom will remember that one.
Maybe a good subset of this question would be where was the most exotic place you went and took your spouse with you......and are you still married.
