OK, I have no data other than what the old heads in Oak told me, and the old heads aren't always 100% correct.
>The Miller-Sweeney auto bridge at Fruitvale was completed in 1973 and replaced the original swing span opened in 1894.
Is this the one which on being repaved sometime in the 1980s, the operator opened it before the asphalt hardened, and it all slid down into the bascule mechanism, jamming the bridge open for months?
>Regarding the diagonal SP track at High Street which ran from the SP Eastbound Main alongside the scrap yards and down to Fruitvale Avenue, passing underneath the Highway 17 (I-880) overpass structure enroute, THAT screwy intersection only had "crossing protection" on the EASTERN side of the property.
That's what I meant to say, to clarify: the /westbound/ off ramp on the east side of the freeway (fingers too big, keys too small).
>Like you said, they were "flashing crossbucks" with 'rotating stop signs' as part of the mechanism--BUT, they never had GATES there !
That's why I put "gates" in quotes.
