If you liked the looks of a C415 you'll love gensets ;<).
I wondered about the loading - it would seem that if you ask for a big push NOW you can pretty much get it from one engine as long as it loads up quickly, but if you have to start up a couple and wait for everything to synchronize it might seem like forever. It's like that in hybrid cars too: punch the throttle in a Prius and it has to think a moment to decide how much of each power source to use and get everything on line. Just something we have to learn to live with I guess.
In the last picture ... do they need to cut those shop doors a bit higher to clear the new engines?
MP36's are only a bit more ugly than F59PHI's - and to my eyes nowhere near as ugly as those slit-window boxcab P's Amtrak loves so much. On the plus side, they're available for purchase, which is more than you can say for the alternatives right now.
