On the plus side, the makeover of the DCA will include the introduction of a trolley line using scaled-down replicas of PE "Hollywood" cars.
At Walt Disney World in Florida, I once went on a backstage tour called "The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains." It involved arriving at the park at 7am and included a tour of the railroad shops and a couple of trips around the line before the park opened. This was in 2001, and was one of several backstage tours that were offered; I don't know if they still are.
