Yesterday was an amazing day on Donner. May 27th and 16" on new snow!!! Record snowfall for the date. Plus the latest day I can ever remember a flanger working in snow service. And by the afternoon it was really kicking up the snow from the flanger blade on the last two flips. I drove up Wednesday night and slept in my van at Soda Springs. Woke up at 05:30 to 8" of new snow on top of the van. Very busy day to say the least. I shot 18 train movements between 05:30 and 19:00. Included were four flanger moves, the spreaders being moved lite back down to Roseville, #5 & #6 and 11 freights. I did catch the 1982 at 06:45 leading the IG1OA. There was only light snow during the day and then just before 15:00 it began to dump and snowed heavy with another 6" or 7" before I shot my last train at 19:00. It was still snowing hard when I left. Absolutely incredible for May 27. It looked like the middle of winter.
