I think we owe most of the quality of the scan to Kodachrome and early morning light.
That being said, I scanned it on a Minolta Dimage III, set at 2800 dpi and save a TIFF. I then did all editing (which was a very minor straightening and a tiny touch of highlights).
Finally, I saved a smaller version as a JPEG and did a tiny, tiny bit of sharpening (50% and 0.5)
All that being said, it's shots like this that really, really, really make we want to go back in time and tell 16 year old me to shoot nothing but Kodachrome, period. Unfortunately, I didn't get that message for another 35 years.
