Given the trends in the music and computer industries over the years, ie LP's --> 45's --> 8-track --> cassettes --> cd's --> mp3's or 8" floppies --> 5 1/4" floppies --> 3 1/2" floppies --> cd-roms --> thumb drives, etc. this statement may be wishful thinking. The computer industry especially has shown rapid changes in storage technology over the past 20 odd years.

I have boxes of paper based TRAINS mags from the 60's that are still readable and some some 78 rpm records from the 50's that are physically in good shape but are unplayable.

Technology changes, and most changes are not backward compatible.
