The 590 was delivered to the Oakland coachyard this afternoon. The Mechanical Dept. says it's not to be used until a factory rep can come and train employes on how to run it. It's currently sitting on Track 14 outside the north end of the shop (the track closest to Third St., next to the freeway overpass). You might get a shot from the sidewalk through the fence, but there's a lot of stuff in the foreground. The control stand has an EMD plate on it and looks pretty old, so I suspect it's reused. Sorry, no photos to post, as I still use actual film.
Today, I also happened to see the Richmond Pacific job passing though the Richmond station--pulled by a genset! It was painted blue and white, and lettered CEFX 1510; does anyone know if it's a demonstrator or a leaser, and what this portends for their marvelous Gyralite-equipped SWs? Talk about "It's all crap now;" at least they were still using the caboose!
