Sounds like an interesting program. I hope the bottom line of "common sense prevails" is discussed. Stay off private property, follow the rules, and things should go fine. I was with a fellow foamer once in a Central Valley location and we were on a dead-end street, but it was public property. We were inches away from a Class 1 railroad yard and mainline action. Suddenly, a railroad security vehicle (rent-a-cop, not a police officer) starts heading over towards us with yellow lights flashing. The foamer friend I was with panicked, and said, "Let's get outta here!!!". I said---"Why??". We weren't breaking any laws and were in a public location. I told him to relax, and I'll handle it. Once we were contacted, I said we were railfans and were just train watching. After a nice conversation, the security guard went to his vehicle and got out a computer printout that showed all of the incoming trains for the night.
My point is that attitude goes a LONG WAY (as well as being in a legal location). There's no need to be mouthy and start talking about your "rights". Be friendly and respectful, and you'll usually get the same in return. I have similar stories, but I don't want to post them because I don't want to get anyone in trouble. Just remember to be a nice guy, DON'T LIE, be cool, and have fun and stay safe!
